I'm Back/Awwww Damn!

Moving is never fun. So, wondering why I was so deficient on journal entries…? That’s why. Getting geared up for the big transition. Advances and setbacks. Finally getting a move date locked in. Praying every thing works out. Waiting 6- 7 weeks for it all to happen while imagining the worst, and praying for the best. Moving. Four days of grueling moving. A lot of which I did myself, I might add. Friday was the move date, but Public Storage hadn’t given me a specific time as to when they’d be dropping my stuff off. Which is silly, especially since they want you to close out your account and pay all monies to them 1- 2 weeks in advance. I had to call them the day of the move because nobody had called me in the morning like I was told they would do. “1- 4”. That was the time they gave me for delivery. Wow. That would be great, if I hadn’t hired movers to unload the damn containers. Seeing as tho’ 1-4 is too broad for them, I had to give the manager at Public Storage hell. They switched me from last on the schedule to first. Great, now only if you guys gave me ample warning, I could have told the movers, who are now in Virginia doing a job because PS took too damn long. Scoop my homegirl Helena and my little cousin Toya to help with unpacking, but more so for company so I don’t flip out. Moving tends to bring out the worst in folks…
Because all I have in my place is my stereo stuff, and a the stuff I loaded my Explo up with, we didn’t do much but listen to music and talk until around 6:30 when the movers got to my spot. Cool. Let’s get going.
Open up crate one…awwwww damn!!! These fools that packed my stuff into my container (from PS) put my bedrails against my expensive as hell leather couch, hence causing a laceration in said expensive as hell leather couch.
Aaaaaw Damn…why is the alarm going off…That shit is loud as hell. Aaaaaw damn! The alarm shut off the elevator. Awwwww, damn!!! The fire department didn’t turn the elevator back on before they left. Oh, well, time to soldier it up the steps fellas… By the time the movers got there, Iwas already running on fumes sine I hadn’t eaten that entire day. I managed to down two slices of Hawaiian BBQ chicken pizza from Papa Johns (which is frickin great by the way) just before the movers got there. Oh look, it’s 9:00. Pay the mover. Great, still gotta drop Helena and Toya back off. Head to Lynn’s, as she will be helping me tomorrow, and I don’t want to have to make a trip into DC tomorrow just to come right back.
Saturday, pack up the truck with the items that have been lurking in corners of Lynns apartment for over a year now. Hit up Lowes and get blinds for my crib, as they were discarded prior to my moving in. $133 spent on blinds. Oh, there’s a Wal- Mart. I can get my bookcase…and my desk…and a chair…oh, and I need a lamp…Wait, Wal Mart has blinds cheaper here…$214. I don’t need these blinds from Lowes now, $88 back in my pockets. Oops, forget my wallet at the returns counter…I need some sleep. Back to the crib. Unpack, organize, reorder, adjust…waitaminute…is my marble table cracked?! “Hey Lynn, that a crack in my table?” I knew I wasn’t crazy. Put my chair together. Organize…trash runs galore…Damn…it’s 5:45…gotta get you back to DC for your play rehersal. Ring (actually vibrate…I don’t like my phone to ring if it’s on me…don’t need that attention, y’know?) “Hello?” “Lee, we are going to leave for your fathers birthday dinner at 7:00, okay” “I’m on my way to DC, I have to shower when I get back, but I’ll do my best…”
Medieval Times is pretty damn entertaining. That’s where my father had his birthday celebration. You eat your dinner with your hands, and they have jousting and a whole medieval soap opera planned out. Left that joint around 10:30. Shoot to DC again to get my helping hands (Lynn). I put together my desk being the restless obsessive compulsive neat freak I am. Went to sleep after some cleaning around 3:00.
Up at 8:30. Put my bookcase together. More organizing. More trash. Bye Bye 3- disc changer…I’ll miss you Trash! This printer is a paper weight…$40 for an ink cartage? Trash! Old desk that looks tacky and is cheap as hell…Trash! Meet up with Brother- in- Law to get another load of stuff from my Moms crib. “Hey Dre, that look like a crack in my table to you?” Roll out to my Moms crib, leaving Lynnbehind enemy lines to straighten out the fort. Get to my Moms crib. Dre talking trash to my stepfather creates impromptu games of HORSE on the court in the back. Okay, let’s get back to work. Come back with the world in my truck. Unload, eat pizza…watch the Creep Show? Yep, a DVD I now regret buying because of all the movies I have, that’s what was chosen by Lynn and Dre.
Drive to Lynn’s crib after Dre leaves so she won’t have to get up early to get to work. Leave from her spot 9:30 Monday Morning.
“Hey…I’m coming to get my stuff”. Guerrilla tactics ensue to load up my truck, even more to unload it. Repeated calls to public storage for marble table and couch issues… Hmmm, my file cabinet shouldn’t be here…it’d be better there. Move…organize…adjust…etc. It’s almost 12 midnite….awwww Damn!
